Baked Ham
Steak
Convenient ham
steaks cook in less than half an hour. The center cut ham steak comes from the
retail cut called the ham. It is a
tender cut of meat and has a small round bone in the center. Use kitchen scissors to snip the outside edge
of the steak every 2-inches to prevent curling during baking. This taste tempting sauce combines orange
juice, brown sugar and spices to give the ham steak a wonderful flavor.
Preparation
time: About 10 minutes.
Equipment you’ll
need: Kitchen scissors, measuring
spoons, wire whisk, small bowl, 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan, basting brush and
serving platter
Safety: Use dry potholders to place baking pan into
the oven and remove. Ask for adult to cut the ham steak into 4 servings.
Recipe:
1 pound hickory smoked lean ham steak
3 tablespoons orange juice
2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground
mustard
1/8 teaspoon ground
cloves
1. Preheat oven to 325-degrees.
2. Coat baking dish with a spray of Canola
oil.
3. Place ham steak in dish.
4. In a small bowl, whisk together orange juice, brown sugar, mustard. and cloves.
5. Brush sauce evenly over ham steak. Bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes or
until heated
through.
Yield:
4 servings.
Clean up: Turn off oven immediately after use. Always leave a clean kitchen!
