For drying, gather the stalks in late summer when the plant is in full bloom and in a dry condition.
Method 1.
Secure several stems with twine and place in a paper bag with several small air holes. Secure the top of paper bag with twine. Hang in the garage or in a cool dark place for a week or two until the leaves get brittle. For a better product, discard stalks! Crumble leaves by rolling between your palms. Store in airtight containers.
Method 2
Remove leaves from stems and air dry in a single layer on
dehydrator screens. Keep out of Kitty’s
reach! Turn the leaves
occasionally. After a week or two the
leaves should start to get brittle.
