Cheese Ball

Kids Cooking

A cheese ball is quite simple to make, yet looks elegant.  Basically it is a blend of two or more cheeses and seasonings.  Cream cheese is the common base, but consider adding Colby, Monterey Jack, Feta, Swiss or American cheese.   Cheese blends in easier if finely shredded.  Chopped pimentos, olives and/ or Green onions add texture.  Add a dash of hot sauce, dried herbs or chili powder to spice it up.  Finely chopped walnuts, pecans or cashews add a different flavor.  Refrigeration of the cheese ball allows the flavors to develop.  Set out at room temperature at least half an hour before serving.

Preparation time:  About 10 minutes.

Equipment you’ll need:  Electric mixer, measuring spoons, liquid measuring cup, solid (nested) measuring cups, nut chopper, rubber scraper, and serving plate.
