Dog on a Stick
Serve up a Cheese Dog for a tasty lunch. Spread a rolled out biscuit with mustard, top
with grated cheese, wrap around a hot dog, and bake until golden brown. Traditional hot dogs are made of beef, pork,
veal, chicken, or turkey, with or without skins and may contain up to 30
percent fat and 10 percent added water.
Size ranges from about two inches up to the famous foot-long with the
most popular standard being the six-inch length usually sold in packages of
ten.
Preparation time: About
15 minutes.
Equipment you’ll need:
Rolling pin, pastry board, 8 wooden craft sticks, baking sheet,
scissors, cooling rack, spatula, and serving platter.
Safety: Use dry
potholders to place baking pan into the oven and remove.
Recipe:
8 Healthy Choice hot dogs
8 wooden craft sticks
1 16-ounce package Grands
Cheddar Big Biscuits (8)
6 tablespoons mustard,
divided
4 ounces shredded Cheddar
cheese
1. Preheat oven to
350-degrees.
2. Insert 1 wooden craft stick
halfway into each hot dog and set aside
3. Separate biscuits. On a floured board, roll each biscuit into a
7 x 4-inch oval.
4. Spread 2 teaspoons mustard
lengthwise down center of each biscuit.
Top with
2 tablespoons shredded cheese
5. Place hot dog on cheese and
enclose in biscuit by wrapping around to seal.
6. Pinch together edges and
place seam side down on baking sheet.
6. Bake 15-20 minutes or until
golden brown. Cool slightly before
serving.
Yield: 8 servings.
Safety: Turn off oven
immediately after use. A good cook
always cleans the kitchen spotless.
