“Chocolate Dipped Strawberries are fun and easy to prepare!”

1   pound carton of large strawberries

1   pound package chocolate candy kote wafers or candy melts

Place berries in a colander and rinse under cold running water.  Pat dry with paper towels.  Refrigerate until dipped.  Pour ½ pound of wafers in a shallow glass bowl.  Melt on microwave defrost cycle for 3 ½ minutes.  Holding the stem, dip ¾ of the strawberry into the melted chocolate.  Hold for a few seconds and the chocolate will almost set.  Coat a chilled cooking rack with cooking spray.  Place berries stem side down on the rack.  Store in a wax paper lined container in a single layer.  Cover and refrigerate until served.

* A few suggestions!

(1) Purchase large berries that are firm, even in color and have stems attached.

(2) Warm chocolate coating hardens faster on chilled strawberries

(3) Hold coated berry by stem in front of a small table fan for quicker drying.

(4) Only melt as much chocolate as you can use in a few minutes.

(5) For stove top preparation, melt chocolate in a non-stick saucepan over low heat.

(6) Melted chocolate chip morsels are not recommended.
