Cloverleaf Rolls

“This is my mother’s, Ruth Goodman Hardimon, Cloverleaf Rolls recipe.”

“This dough can also be used for Ruth’s Donuts and Marilyn’s Swedish Tea Ring.”

 

2   packages yeast

˝  cup warm water

2   cups scalded milk

˝  cup margarine

˝  cup sugar

2   eggs

2   teaspoon salt

7   cups flour

 

Dissolve yeast in ˝ cup water.  Set aside to rise.  Bring milk to a boil.  Remove from heat and add sugar, salt and margarine.  Let cool.  Stir in eggs, yeast and 1 cup flour.  Add rest of flour.  Cover mixed dough with a towel and allow to double in size.  Press dough down.  Roll and shape dough – 3 balls for one roll.  Place in a greased muffin tin.  Let shaped dough double in size.  Bake in a 375-degree oven for 15 minutes.  Brush top of rolls with butter when taken out of oven.  Makes 3-5 dozen rolls.
