Kids Cooking

Pumpkins are a popular part of modern America’s Halloween celebration.  Come October, pumpkins can be found everywhere in the country from doorsteps to dinner tables.  Create an edible centerpiece in 15 minutes by molding a Jack’0 Lantern out of mixture of creamy marshmallows and crispy rice cereal.  The stem and face are molded from giant jellies.  Always clean up as you cook!

Recipe:

1/2  stick unsalted butter

1    10-ounce package miniature marshmallows, reserve 1 tablespoon

6    cups crispy rice cereal

      Orange gel color

      Giant Jellies

Melt marshmallows over low heat.  Stir in a drop of color gel.  Set aside.   Pour cereal in a large bowl.  Pour over tinted marshmallows.  Divide mixture equally divide between bowls pressing down to mold.  Remove each mold and glue together with the reserved marshmallow mixture.  Create decorations by rolling out giant jellies and securing with toothpicks.
