Finger Gelatin
Want something cool
and refreshing on a hot summer day?
Finger gelatin is easy to prepare.
The 3-ounce package directions calls for 1-cup
hot water and 1-cup cold water. Reduce
the hot water by 1/4-cup and the cold water by 1/2-cup. Substitute cold fruit juice for cold
water. Juice adds more flavor and
nutrition. Survey your family for their
favorite flavors and create your own combinations. Serve it from the pan or cut it into squares
and put it on a plate in the refrigerator for a quick snack!
Preparation time: About 5 minutes.
Equipment you’ll
need: Liquid measuring cup, spoon, table knife, spatula, and a small
rectangular serving dish.
Safety: Always wash your hands with soap and water
before beginning to cook. Wear and apron
to protect your clothes.
Recipe:
1 3-ounce package orange gelatin
3/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup orange juice
1. Dissolve the gelatin in hot water. Stir for 2 minutes.
2. Add the cold fruit juice. Stir for 1 minute.
3. Coat serving dish with a spray of canola
oil.
4. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set.
5. Cut into 1 or 2-inch squares. Refrigerate until served.
Clean up: Do
a little extra by straightening drawers and cabinets. You will be appreciated by the head cook!
