Honey Peanut Snack

Kids Cooking

Peanuts, pretzels, and cereal glazed with a honey peanut butter sauce makes a delicious after school snack.  Usually a lighter color honey will indicate a milder flavor, while darker honey is customarily more robust and contains more minerals. Texture can also vary from thin to heavy.   Ask an adult to stir snack mix half way through baking time.  Keep the head cook happy by always cleaning up after you cook.

1/3     cup creamy peanut butter

1/3     cup honey

2        tablespoons unsalted butter

1        teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1        teaspoon ground cinnamon

4        cups Honey Nut cereal

1        cup honey roasted peanuts

1 1/2  cups unsalted pretzels snaps

Preheat oven to 350-degrees.  Line an 11 x 15 x 1-inch sheet pan with foil. In a small saucepan over medium heat, stir together peanut butter, honey, butter, vanilla, and cinnamon into well blended.  Remove from heat.   In a large bowl, stir together cereal, peanuts, and pretzels.  Pour honey mixture over cereal mixture and stir to coat.  Spread mixture evenly across prepared pan.  Bake 12-15 minutes, stirring once.  Cool.  Store in a large covered container or resealable plastic bags.

Yield:  About 6 cups.
