Hummus Dip

Kids Cooking

Hummus is a thick Middle Eastern dip composed of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), lemon juice, garlic, and spicy seasonings.  Some recipes call for tahini, a paste made from sesame seeds.  Fun stir-ins can include, green olives, black olives, crunchy celery, and pine nuts.  Serve with pita chips, crudités, or whole grain crackers. Ask an adult to operate and clean the food processor or blender.   Now enjoy your hummus and know you are getting valuable protein and fiber.  Always clean up as you cook.

1/2    teaspoon minced garlic

1/2    teaspoon dried basil leaves

1/4    teaspoon ground cumin

         Hot pepper sauce to taste
