Oven
French Toast
For your family, serve a breakfast time casserole with French bread,
cream cheese, milk, pancake syrup, and raisins. Prepare in less that 15 minutes the night
before baking. Overnight soaking enables
the bread to soak up the cinnamon flavored topping. Serve
with a cup of heated maple syrup mixed with 2 tablespoons chopped pecans. Cook with care and always clean up the
kitchen.
Recipe
1 small loaf French bread,
cut into cubes (about 6 cups)
1 8-ounce package cream
cheese, softened
4 large eggs, beaten
1 12-ounce can evaporated
milk
1/2 cup maple-flavored pancake
syrup
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup golden raisins
Place bread cubes in an 11 x 7 x 2-inch baking dish coated with a spray
of Canola oil. Using
an electric mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. Gradually add in eggs, milk, syrup, and
cinnamon. Pour over bread cubes and then
sprinkle with raisins. Cover tightly
with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Bake uncovered, about 35 minutes or until
set.
Yield: 6 servings.
