Pizza Bread
Pizza bread can be
eaten as a snack, or served as an accompaniment to pasta, soup or salad. Begin with a loaf of frozen bread dough that
has been thawed and allowed to rise. Mix
in some herbs, roll out and drizzle with oil. Brush with tomato sauce and
season. For variation top sauce with
pepperoni, black olives, canned mushrooms, thin slices Roma tomatoes,
mozzarella or cheddar cheese. A sprinkle of dried herbs such as: basil, thyme, oregano or chopped rosemary add
flavor.
Preparation
time; About 15 minutes, after rising
Equipment you’ll
need: Large bowl, small bowl, fork,
pastry brush, rolling pin, measuring spoons, can opener, baking sheet and pizza
cutter
Safety: Put baking sheet into oven and remove with
dry potholders.
Recipe:
1 pound loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
Olive oil
1 6-ounce
can tomato paste
1 tablespoon honey
Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper
Parmesan cheese
1. Thaw frozen bread dough in a large bowl coated
with cooking spray. Cover with
plastic wrap and let rise till double.
2. Punch down dough and knead (work in)
seasoning.
3. Place dough on baking sheet coated with
cooking spray. Press or roll dough into
a 12-14-inch circle.
4. Using tines of fork poke dough surface at
least 24 times. Drizzle with oil.
5. Mix tomato paste and honey in a small
bowl. Brush over top of dough.
Lightly sprinkle with salt, pepper and
Parmesan cheese.
6. Bake in a preheated 375-degree oven for about
20 minutes. Remove from oven.
Let cool for a few minutes on a wire
rack. Cut and Serve!
Yield:
6 servings.
Clean up: Turn off oven immediately after use. Parents appreciate a very clean kitchen.
