Rice Krispie Bars – Jeanne Smith Tepen*

“These will stay fresh for a couple of weeks.  I sent bunches of these to my sons when they were in the Military and my daughter when she was in the Peace Corps.”

 

1   cup white sugar

1   cup white syrup

1   cup smooth peanut butter

6   cups Rice Krispies

 

Topping

 

Heat syrup and white sugar to almost boiling.  Stir in peanut butter until smooth.  Pour over the Rice Krispies and press into a 9 x 13 –inch pan.  Melt the chocolate and butterscotch chips and mix.  Spread over top of bars.  Cool until topping is set. 

Yield:  24 bars. 

 

Preparation time:  10 minutes or less

Cook time:   2 minutes

Total time:   12 minutes
