Scotcharoo Bars
Need something chewy, crunchy, and chocolate all in one bite? Creamy Peanut butter, sweetener, and toasted
rice cereal are mixed together to prepare easy no bake bar cookies. They are topped with a smooth mixture of
melted butterscotch morsels and semi-sweet chocolate morsels. Serve as a snack with a glass of milk.

10 minutes
Equipment you’ll need:
Nonstick saucepan, wooden spoon, solid (nested) measuring cups, large
liquid measuring cup, spatula, kitchen scissors, 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan, table
knife, and a serving spatula.
Safety: Ask for adult
supervision when pouring the hot syrup mixture over and pressing the cereal
mixture into the pan.
Recipe
1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
6 cups toasted rice cereal
1 11-ounce bag butterscotch
flavored morsels
1 6-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1. Coat a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan
with spray of canola oil.

Stir together peanut butter, sugar, and corn syrup in the saucepan.
3. Cook over low heat, stirring
frequently until smooth. Remove from
heat.
4. Pour cereal into a very large
bowl. Pour peanut butter mixture over
and stir
until
cereal is thoroughly coated.
5. Press onto bottom of prepared
baking pan using a wooden spoon.
6. Microwave morsels in a large
measuring cup on HIGH power for about one
minute
and 20 seconds. Remove from microwave
and stir until smooth.
7. Pour evenly over cereal and
spread with a spatula
8. Refrigerate for 20 minutes or
until firm. Cut into bars.
Yield: 20 bars.
Clean up: Soak the sticky
pan in hot soapy water for ease of clean up.
Have fun in the kitchen. Just
make sure you clean up.
