Shamrock
Biscuits/Coins of Butter
Kids Cooking
St. Patrick’s Day is associated with
everything Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. This year, bake up a fresh platter of
Shamrock biscuits served with coins of butter.
They are a nice accompaniment to serve with your dinner of Corned Beef
and Cabbage. Prepare the green biscuit
dough by lightly tinting the milk with a paste food color. A few minutes
before serving, place the coins in a small container and surrounded with hot
biscuits.
Preparation time: About 20 minutes.
Equipment you’ll need: Melon ball cutter, covered container, mixing
bowl, liquid measuring cup, solid (nested) measuring cup, baking sheet, pastry
board, table fork, utility spoon, rolling pin, shamrock or round cutter, small
crock or custard up, and serving platter.
Safety: Use dry potholders to put baking sheet into
the oven and remove.
