Slow Baked Beans

2   15.8-ounce cans Great Northern Beans

1   sweet yellow onion, chopped

¼  cup mild flavor molasses   

½  cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1   cup rich and tangy ketchup

1   tablespoon dried basil leaves

 

Preheat oven to 325-degrees.  Place beans in a colander and rinse under cold running water.  Drain.  In a large bowl, mix together the molasses, brown sugar, ketchup and basil.   Stir in beans and onions.  Spoon into a 2-quart casserole coated with cooking spray.  Cover and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Remove dish from the oven and cool on a wire rack for at 10 minutes before serving.  

Yield:  6 servings.
