Wacky
Mac and Cheese
Try something different! Wacky
Mac is made from premium durum semolina flour.
It is enriched with thiamin, iron, folic acid, riboflavin and niacin.
The wagon wheels, spirals, tubes, and shells are also enriched with tomato,
beet and spinach powders. The rich
cheese and milk sauce adds a punch of vitamin D and calcium. Add some crunch by topping with crushed
crackers. Of course, elbow macaroni,
penne, or any other medium size pasta can be substituted.
Preparation time: About
20 minutes.
Equipment you’ll need: Nonstick
saucepan, large mixing bowl, colander, wooden spoon, utility spoon, wire whisk,
kitchen scissors, liquid measuring cup, rolling pin, solid (nested) measuring
cups, cooling rack, serving spoon, and a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
Safety: Ask for adult
supervision when draining the pasta. Use
dry potholders when placing and removing baking pan from oven.
