1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup whole
wheat flour
1 tablespoon
granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup solid
shortening
¾ cup milk
Preheat oven to 400-degrees. In a bowl, combine the flours, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles small peas. Stir in milk. Turn onto a floured surface and knead 6 to 8 times. If sticky, work in a little more flour. Pat to 1-inch thickness and cut with a 2–inch biscuit cutter. Place on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
